Submission TrackingWhy should I use a manuscript submission tracker? I've talked with any number of people at writer's conferences who tell me they don't need a submission tracker. Why? Because they aren't ready yet. They have only a few manuscripts. They can keep track of their submissions (and associated costs) by hand. That may be true for them but my personal experience with my wife was that she lost that scrap of paper she used to record when and where she sent her manuscript. Or later she couldn't remember if she had already sent that manuscript to a market (editors just love getting manuscripts submitted that they have already rejected). Or what the response had been. My firm belief is that anyone who is serious about freelance writing should use a submission tracker. For one author's take on tracking submissions see: www.sff.net/people/bud_sparhawk/tracking.htm. Why should I use Bard's or Bard's Pro?
Outside of the fact that I wrote it and really like it, it doesn't matter to me which submission tracker you use. Below are several other submission trackers. I encourage you to compare their features and start using one soon. Use your favorite search engine (Google, Yahoo, etc.) to find more information about any of these and others that I have not listed. Search for keywords such as "submission tracking" or "manuscript tracking" without the quotes. You can also try search words such as freelance writing, etc.
